m2 August 08: The Aura of Dead Trees

C. complained that I didn’t blog the last MedienMittwoch on Corporate Publishing. The dealay is probably explained by the fact that the thing that struck me most about the event was that it’s been another four weeks already since I last posted here (except for comments on comments on the LOHAS MedienMittwoch).

The m2 CP was once more remarkably uncontroversial. Despite the presence of FRoSTA Blog’s Thorsten Matthias, he panel appeared to be composed of old acquaintances aimiably sharing a professional cake. There was hardly any interaction among the panelists and the evening felt more like fischerAppelt CEO Andreas Vill conducting a group interview. And not an intimate interview, either, as all participants assured each other, the audience and themselves of the comparative health of their business. Contingencies or tricks of the trade did not get shared.

Despite the presence of the FRoSTA-blogger, the whole thing was rather offline too, albeit quite quaintly so. Corporate Publishing for the right kind of product (expensive cars, watches, cigars, fountain pens) is all about imparting a last-century haptic aura with just the right weight and surface paper, with rustling and gloss.
An aura I tend to be quite partial to, myself.

But for all other purposes, is there really no alternative to moving those tons of dead trees?
