“Aufbruch 2009″ - next MedienMittwoch over at my digs

About 11 months ago, Leo Burnett Frankfurt hosted a MedienMittwoch. Spießer Alfons, nemesis of the advertising industry, ranted against everything and everyone, from borrowed creativity through awards to the host themselves. I sat in the last row, trying my best not to be too impressed by the venue (the three story center atrium of the Rödelheim Torpedo-Werke, all glass, steel, and palm trees) and being utterly bemused by this industry’s way of conceptualizing itself.

Almost a year later, I walk the atrium every day (still impressed), looking forward to seeing MedienMittwoch kick off 2009, not with a look back at traditional practices but at the future trends of a challenging new year (tomorrow, Jan 14).

AUFBRUCH 2009: Der Wandel geschieht - Perspektiven für stürmische Zeiten (departure 2009: change happens - perspectives for stormy times). Moderators will be Manuela Schiffner and Klaus Kofler. Kofler has already been on last July’s Medienmittwoch on LOHAS-Marketing and I’m surprised to see the LOHAS movement turn from “new phenomenon we need to take a closer look at” into (very probably) a matter-of-fact deterministic screen within half a year. (Talking of which, there’s a new event-series in Frankfurt / Main, “come closer - verantwortliches Design im Fokus” which focuses on responsible and sustainable design. The series starts off Friday, Jan 16, 2009, 7.30 pm, with a presentation by Prof. Ursula Tischner of econcept: “Nachhaltiges Design jenseits von Müsli und Hippie-Ästhetik”. Location: basis e.V., Gutleutstr. 8-12, 60329 Frankfurt.)

As for the Medienmittwoch, I’ll be tweeting from the Leo Burnett Twitter-Account and probably blogging a summary on the MedienMittwoch-Blog later on.
